“The working tax cuts that eliminated taxes on overtime, on tips, and on social security”

MISLEADINGSaid in 3 broadcasts
What the record shows
Trump administration tax proposals (2024–2025) included proposals to exempt tips and overtime from federal income tax, and to exempt Social Security benefits from taxation. However, these were not fully 'eliminated' across all contexts—Social Security taxation rules remain complex, and overtime/tips exemptions apply only to federal income tax, not payroll taxes. No comprehensive law has fully eliminated all three simultaneously as of Jan 2025.
