“When gasoline was... I was in Iowa making a speech. It was $1.95 a gallon. Another station was $1.85 a gallon.”
MISLEADING
What the record shows
AAA reported Iowa regular gas averaged $2.36 in early 2026 and $2.59 on Jan 27. E-85 averaged $1.92. Only 4 of ~150,000 US stations sold sub-$2 gas.
Prices of $1.85-$1.95 were not available for regular gasoline when Trump visited Iowa on Jan 27. E-85 prices were near $1.92, but this is not what most drivers use. Framing rare localized prices as typical is misleading.
