What the record shows
EIA data shows Texas crude oil production reached 5.8 million barrels/day in July 2025 and 5.9 mb/d in September 2025, the highest levels ever recorded. October 2024 saw 5.86 mb/d, also the highest on record.
Texas oil production has indeed reached record highs in 2024-2025, substantially exceeding the previous 1972 peak of 3.5 million barrels/day. Current production is nearly 70% higher than the historical peak.
