What the record shows
CBP data shows Border Patrol apprehended 6,073 people at the southwest border in January 2026, 9,998 in May 2026, and 9,848 in June 2026. The 'zero' refers to zero releases into the interior, not zero border encounters.
Claim conflates zero releases (apprehended people not released into US interior) with zero apprehensions. Thousands were apprehended monthly.
