“Anderrill is investing $3,700,000,000 in a state of the art ship”
MISLEADING
What the record shows
Anduril is investing $3.7 billion in Arsenal-2, a shipyard to manufacture components (torpedo tubes, assemblies) for Virginia-class submarines, not complete ships. Components will be sent to General Dynamics Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding for final assembly.
The $3.7 billion figure is correct, but describing component manufacturing as 'investing in a state of the art ship' misrepresents what the facility will produce. It builds parts, not complete submarines.
